Where are you getting your hides?

I normally use varying sizes of the plastic flower pot saucers and the small cat litter boxes for hides for all of my snakes. But Wal-Mart doesn't carry either of them anymore, and I haven't been able to find them anywhere yet.

Just curious if anyone knows where to get these; either at some store I haven't thought of or a good online source. Or if you have a cheap alternative (not looking to spend $7 for the fancy ABS ones) it would be appreciated. Thanks.

depends how many you are looking for. i also use the small kitty litter pans. i struck up a deal with the local pet store. i sold them a corn snake really cheap, and they gave me a large quantity of the kitty litter pans, at COST, which was around $2.50 CDN each. not bad

Big snakes get hides from Zellers in the form of kitty litter pans.

Anything 1200 approx grams or lower gets them from the dollar store. Either mixing bowls or cereal bowls for hatchlings.

I have a grinder/sander at work and just grind off the "lips" and then cut doors into them with an exacto.

Wherabouts in Canada? Do you breed? You got some nice pairings? Reptile basics has some nice plastic cheap hides!

I like to use the water catchers from clay flower pots.

I didn't even think of the dollar store. I'll have to make a run there and see if they have anything that will work. Thanks!

I go to the dollar store and get these little plastic bowls with holes in them for handles. They are 3 for $1 and come in a few colors. They fit anywhere from a hatchling to a 500-600 gram ball. I just cut a bigger hole as the ball grows. I love them.

Re: Where are you getting your hides?

another thing i've been using lately (that are VERY cheap, get them at a second hand store!)

is black t-shirts! they absolutely love nestling up in all the folds, and i feel like black fabric might be the most secure for them.

i've got a gravid corn in her pre-lay shed right now, she's been curled up in her t-shirt every time i've looked in the viv!
