    What is she doing.

Ok so I received my BP this morning (thanks Bailey and Bailey)!!!! I put her in the cage and she went right into her warm hide and slept, how ever, when she woke up tonight at about 7 pm she looked around for like 5 minutes then slithered up to the indent of the handles for the tub and has been hanging from that ever since, she will stretch out and look around and stick her tongue out, shes fallen down twice, so I know she's not stuck but she just keeps slithering up there and hanging out., I've triple checked the temp of the bottom of the cage its just fine, warm is 93, cold is 81, I know the thermometers are right cause I've used 4 different ones and they all come out the same temp....

I thought BPS were ground snakes, and that they didn't climb much but so far Medusa has spent more time off the ground then on the ground, I'm really more curious as to what shes doing and trying to make sure she's not unhappy then I am worried that somethings wrong.

Think It would be a good idea to get a big peace of fake wood for her to climb on if she likes being up high. or does she not like something.....

I'll post pics next week when she relaxes some.

She is testing the limits of her tub, looking for a way out. She should stop in a week or two.

She is just stressed being in a new environment. Completely normal.

Probably just exploring her new home.

But some BPs really are climbers. Natural variation, I guess, in case the climate changes and they suddenly need to evolve into tree snakes? My het lavender albino female will always go up if she has the option--she actually -climbed our open-frame staircase- during her great escape attempt a few months ago.

Really? interesting.... well if she doesn't quit climbing in a couple of weeks I'll get her a nice fake tree to play in.

Babies might climb around a little bit, but a full grown adult should not climb unless it is stressed.

Adults will climb too. It just depends on the snake. Or realy what the snake wants to do.

    Re: What is she doing.

First, congratulations on the new snake.

Secondly, you've been given a green tree ball python. They look almost like a regular ball, but they love to climb. They will only eat the special rats I have, so it would be best for you to just package the snake and send it to me. I will wean it to regular mice/rats. This usually takes somewhere around 5-8 years. I won't charge you for this service, but reallize I can't do it for nothing. So, if you would, send a $5000 donation check along with the snake to me.

I'll be waiting patiently for the snake and donation.

    Congrats!

ps Everything is fine. It's like moving into a new house, you've got to check out all of the rooms.

    Re: What is she doing.

Mine did the same thing. First couple of nights she was obsessed with the degrees of the sliding door of her cage.
