    Side mounting a UTH question

I'm in the process of building a new enclosure for one of my reptiles. I was thinking with the location of it, to mount the UTH on the side of the tank. My question is, I use the polystyrene backgrounds for both ambiance and to make my guys feel more secure (only one visible way), will the UTH cause any damage to the polystyrene? It says non-toxic so I would assume that if it was heated it wouldn't give off toxic fumes right?

    Thanks for the help!

Re: Side mounting a UTH question

I've used polystyrene insulation on all of my UTH's, even the tubs, and haven't had a problem yet. That is one of the things I check for when I clean the tubs out. As long as you are using a thermostat to regulate the heater...
