Now that's a crispy (crystal clear) tank! I thought after seeing that first pic that you were keeping that water turtle (map?) on wet paper towels. Very nice!

    Thanks, The tank is a 125. I have a cascade 700 and a ehiem 2217 running it.
They both do a great job. It was pricey to set up but once you get them running there isnt much to do for the tank. 25 % water change once a week or every 2 weeks and thats it. I only change the filters every six months.
The basking area is made out of plexiglass. and I have a basking platform as a ramp up to it.
I have another tank a 75. I had to play musical turtles cause the southern painted was in love with the cooter and she started to get tired of his attention and decided to let him have it LOL. So I had to move my razor back out of the 75 in with the cooter and moved the map and the painted into the 75. Everybody seems pretty happy now.
I just love my turtles they are so much fun.

    Re: My Little guys

I saw one shop selling baby snapping turtles, pretty cool little guys, but I feel like they may not be the nicest roommates...
One day I hope to have some turtles, maybe when I move somewhere permanent and have the money!

Snapping turtles are so prehistoric looking and get really big. But it seems a lot of people have them as long as you are ready to take on something really big with an attitude LOL

    Re: My Little guys

We spoke on my thread about fish, if you dont mind, could you answer some of the questions I had on there but in terms of turtles? Here they are (obviously ignore those that don't relate):

    1. Fresh vs. Saltwater--What are the pros/cons, whether it be species possibilities, or general upkeep and costs

    2. How varying can your fish be? i.e., is it possible to have a good number of different species in a single aquarium?

    3. What is a generally good sized aquarium? I would love something with a nice, furniture looking base, and have seen some for good prices with everything in the 55 gallon range. Is this a good size, or are the 100+ a better choice? I'm not in a monstrous house, and don't have unlimited funds, so by no means am I looking for an MTV Cribs aquarium. Does size limit species possibilities? Is there a "most popular" size, or most bang for your buck?

    4. What are average monthly costs and what are the general upkeep requirements?

    5. Where do you purchase your:
    -Supplies
    -Fish
    -etc.

    6. Do fish allow you to vacation? i.e., can I go home for the weekend without coming back to a tank full of dead fish? How do you handle time away?

    7. How do you transport fish in case of a move?

    8. Any other advice or opinions

    9. SHOW OFF! I'd love to see your setups, I can't get enough of the beautiful aquariums people have and would love to see what everyone has!

I fell for the same illusion too Mark! But I just couldn't figure out how she was keeping those imitation plants standing up so tall!
