Re: how long can baby pythons be in the same container?

I'm not saying it can't happen, but I've never seen or heard of this before.

A few posts down, you could see a ball python who ate his cage mate (another ball), a boa constrictor who ate his ball python cagemate and a corn snake (???) who ate another corn snake.

The risk, although it CAN be small, is just too....unpleasant to deal with.
That photo is the ONLY one I've ever seen of a ball eating a ball. But I've never seen any other photos, nor heard of any first hand experience from any of our members (now numbering over 15K registered members on this site alone).

I keep my hatchlings together until their first feed, and then I separate them. I've had no issues doing so.

Re: how long can baby pythons be in the same container?

Most breeders BG knows will put a whole clutch in a container until their first shed. Then they will separate them.

If you're talking about how long they can live in a particular cage. Well that all depends on how big it is to begin with and how fast they grow. Just use some common sense.

They are only in the same tub for a day or less here...

They get cleaned weighed, and labeled.
Then off to their very own tub...

Re: how long can baby pythons be in the same container?

I personally separate them after they hatch. I see no reason to keep them all in the same enclosure for a week if I'm going to separate them all after that anyway. I also like to get them sexed and give them ID numbers as early as possible. Just my preference.

BG meant how long one snake can live in a particular cage with his second comment in case anyone is confused.

    The question is:

How long can one snake live in a cage with an 8' long/80 pound water monitor?

I guess it now all boils down to OP's decision...at least we did present to him the two sides of the coin.

@OP: listen to Rabernet....I read her posts on BP keeping way back in repticzone....she's one of the reasons why my sickly ball python juvie is now a very healthy but lazy couch potato

It all depends on whether this monitor is fictional or not.
