    2 Dead hope its age

    In last week ive had 2 breeder male and female die up out of no where. They were fine the day before and wake up their stiff.


    This is pissin me off. Their both 11 months old hold backs i produced last year and bred well and produced good litters.

    The male was a good 600g and female was 330g

    And cant explain anything no reason for them to die that young but then again rodents die for no reason.

    It may have been something with their genetics, maybe a defect you can't see. 11 months old is pretty young for a rat though. Have you introduced any new rats to the colony recently or changed anything with their environment?

    No they been fed same food Kent for last 6 months and been fine. Freshwater daily and use pine pellets since day one. No clue but if another dies on me something is up big time.

    Any of the rats sneezing? Small litter sizes? I know that when I had a mycos flare up it wiped out a lot of my rats and quickly, all because I brought in a rat (feeder) that was sick and he was near them (didn't know he was sick. Now I QT like crazy)

    It may have just been a random thing though. I'd keep an eye on the rest of your rats.
