    Moving day!

We moved this past weekend, and finally brought the snakes over today (Monday) - whew, what a challenge! My new bedroom is ginormous, so I was very stoked to see how the racks fit. I need to organize the wires & mount the thermostat, but everything fits with room to spare.

Here are some photos of the new setup, and Vinnie being a goof... they were all pretty restless after the move, roaming and exploring their new surroundings (despite being in the same exact tubs/racks).

Alright alright, I'm going back in...

    Re: Moving day!

I just moved twice in four months. It was definitely a challenge. And the snakes were all roaming around their cages and staring around outside into the new unfamiliar surroundings lol. They do know they're not in the same place.
Nice set ups BTW, and handsome spider.

Hey, the snakes don't know the difference! Those are actually easier to find than plain ceramic bowls, and probably cheaper overall. But to be honest, I just use whatever I find or already have... everything from dog bowls to crock bowls to plastic tupperware. As long as you don't have a super active or klutzy snake (like my boy Dave), it doesn't matter what you use IMO.

Thanks! I wanted to take more pictures, but my camera died & the battery is still packed away... oy, I totally should have kept that separate. It's funny how they know we've moved, even with being in the same racks/tubs. I guess it smells different in the house, right?

It was actually easier than I had anticipated! I just waited until everything else (from the house) was gone, and then removed the snakes from their racks... we moved the racks separately, and I kept the snakes stacked in their tubs for the drive. A few of my tubs don't have lids, however, since I bought the rack second-hand & forgot to ask for them. So that was the only semi-challenge, which I solved by doubling up a few snakes, and then putting Mona into a snake bag - but she managed to escape within a minute, so I had to squeeze her into a spare critter keeper. Luckily it was a short local move, as I imagine long-distance moves get more complicated.

When your collection grows, I'm sure you will end up with something similar. Btw, I'm also getting a 4-high Boaphile rack this month, so it's a good thing the room is spacious... LOL.
