Oh man, I remember getting up early and watching that live. I remember being very confused and thinking that something was wrong, then slowly realizing with horror what had happened.

    Re: 24 Years Ago.

I was home sick from school that day. I'd forgotten it was the day of the "teacher in space" launch, so when I turned on the TV and saw one of the countless replays of the space shuttle exploding, I just thought it was a movie. It was confusing as I watched a little longer and realized it was real.

    Re: 24 Years Ago.

One of those days in history where you remember exactly where you were at the time. I was in my 7th grade English class. It was one of those rooms that had a divider between another class. The teachers separated the dividers so both classes could watch the event. Pretty confusing for our young minds then...

    Re: 24 Years Ago.

There are a couple times in life when I can tell you exactly where I was. When Challenger went down I was coming down the stairs at Macadoo's in Roanoke Virginia with a tray of food.
When 911 happened i was at work in Minneapolis Kansas.

There are some things that are so shocking they are just seared into your memory.

    Re: 24 Years Ago.

I wasn't alive when it happened, but I did go to Kindergarten to 2nd grade at a school named in Christa McAuliffe's honor. I remember there being quotes from her all over the building, and pictures.
