What is this (duw)
This is one of my big females, that I am attempting to breed. This is my first year to all this and my partner/wife noticed her tail was getting really fat. So I figured I would post some pictures of her to see what you all think. She is also spending a lot of time in her water dish soaking when we check on her this week. She seems a lot darker then usual So is she Gravid, Building, or nothing.
Correct me if I am wrong but my understanding of building is she is ready to mate.

Re: What is this (duw)
Hi,
I can't see any swelling resembling late stage building - have you tried palpating her to feel for follicles?

Not sure what palpating is and also what would a follicle feel like? I will say this she has had numerous locks with one of my males since the first week of Novemeber

Re: What is this (duw)
Palpating is just feeling for the lumps, which will feel like small marbles. As they develop they will get larger. Some females will not start building until they go in with a male as least once.
But in the pictures it looks all normal and no swelling.

Re: What is this (duw)
Most people start pairing around November and don't see ovulation for 2-3+ months. It's a very long process. Keep pairing her till she doesn't accept the male anymore. Another good indicator that she's preggo is if she starts refusing food. One of my girls just started glowing for me. She's still locking, and still eating. I started pairing November 1st.

Looks like shes going to lay something, and from my experiance its not going to be an egg.

Come here little guy. You're awfully cute and fluffy but unfortunately for you, you're made of meat
