Hides, water bowls, etc...
I have searched and there are some old threads, good threads and a lot of links that don't have a destination anymore.
I found a thread that had tub sizes and what size ball python people kept in them. Apply that to hides and water bowls....
I am looking for current links of where people get hides and water bowls from en masse, and what size, by grams, ball python they put with a particular hide. I want to pick up more than I need so I can put a snake in a clean tub and clean the old one later in the dishwasher or sink.
I searched every dollar store in my area as well as every retailer and all I found were clear stuff aside from a blue bowl, 3 for $1, that is too big for my ~120 gram females and too small for my ~300 gram female. I would also like to find something that will fit my 1300 gram male and bigger breeder females in the future. Basically a full range of sizes.
Thank you for your thoughts.
300.

Re: Hides, water bowls, etc...
I use the black plastic hides from reptilebasics. I have racks so after the snakes reach 500 grams or so I take the hides out completely. If they want to hide they go under the paper. If you have them in tubs without a rack, you could use kitty litter pans for the larger snakes. As for water bowls, I buy the 3in white ceramic deseart bowls from wal mart they run about 2 bucks each, theyre in the dish isle.

Re: Hides, water bowls, etc...
Those blue bowls are where its at! I went to Dollar General and found the blue bowls 3 for $1 and they have large bowls 2 for $1. The smaller blue bowls are PERFECT for my 160 gram male, all the way up to my 430 gram female. She kindof wears it as a hat, but since putting it in there shes eating like crazy and no problems at all. They are about 4 inches across and since its a blue bowl, they feel secure since no light really gets in. My snakes all love the hides and are always in them chillen out.
You'd be suprised what small spaces ball pythons can squeeze in, and the tighter the squeeze, the better they feel. For larger snakes use kitter litter pans that are rectangular and those are the best bets. I have been having a hard time finding a hide for my 1200 gram female cause shes so short she likes a small tight hide and kitter litter pans are too big, so i have the same problem as the OP in this case. Now when i have 2000 gram plus females, kitter litter pans are perfect!
