    they ate on their own!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! This morning I woke up to find that my formerly non-eating hatchlings ate on their own! I am in disbelief, or amazement, I'm not sure.

So, last night my latest litter of mice was about 14 days young, hoppers with eyes barely open, and I thought I'd offer each of the two non-eating balls their latest live meal. About 5 minutes after I put them into the enclosures, the albino male poked his head out of the coconut shell. Positively encouraging!

I woke up this morning to check on them, success!!!!

Because some of my snakes had mites and were exhibiting symptoms of a respiratory infection, I paid a visit to a local reptile specialist. These two were part of the 5 ball pythons that were affected by the mites/RI. They have been treated with Fortaz for 4 different bacterias that are all sensitive to Fortaz. They have gone through 8 doses of the 10 prescribed. Now I feel so much better knowing they should be fine to eat on their own now. I am so very relieved!! Shucks that I didn't get to see them eat!

I am very much relieved!! I hope everyone who is going through challenging snake keeping troubles gets some relief soon too.

I can understand how good that feels. It seems like eating is the ultimate sign you are doing things right.
