    UTH is at 110

Dont freak out guys. My UTH is at 110 and I dont have a damn dimmer so I just piled the aspen about 2 inches. My Ball python Diablo doesn't burrow in his hide but it worries me if he does because that would surely burn him.

How hot should it be on the glass where the uth is max?

Go buy a dimmer - don't be reckless with the life of your animal over a $7 rheostat.

80-85 and 90 on the hot side. Check out the care sheet somewhere around here.

That's just plain reckless IMO. Do you have a heat lamp or something you can use for heat until you get a dimmer? Dimmers are less than $10 at Lowes or Home Depot, go buy one, stop being cheap and/or lazy!

hey hey whoa, calm down with the verbal attacks here, I am a new owner and it is called being uninformed not reckless, That is why I came on here to get the low down, you guys dont need to jump all over me man.

I doubt He cant get hurt if he is sitting on the aspen 2 inches above the uth heat.

I will by a dimmer and get this taken care of. I have unplugged it and turned on the heat lamp in the meanwhile, but I was told not to place the lamp right at the hide, true?

right on, thanks for the rational and calm response to a problem instead of calling me cheap and irresponsible, if anything happened to my boy I would be devastated and am willing to do anything to keep him safe like one of my kids man. for real.

i know that you know that that isn't true. There are tons of snakes that get burned by unregulated heating elements every year.

The difference is, you are here trying to get help. Keep an eye on the temps (make sure you are measuring them with a reliable thermometer like an accuite -- something digital and calibrated).

A dimmer is a quick fix. There is a really cheap thermostat you can get. ("..Thermostat") The zoomed reptitemp 500R. Then they go up from there. The Johnson and Ranco are nice mid-level thermostats and then there are higher end ones like Helix and Herpstat (made by spyder robotics)
