Agreed, I find the numbers of species found, catalogued, and the theorical number of unknown species to be staggering. The next few years will definitely being interesting. Don't know about yall, but I'm looking forward to reading their books once the census is complete.

I love deep sea life. Every time I catch something on TV about it I'm fixated. My friend that works offshore sent me this video of a deep sea squid they caught on an ROV camera.

That is an amazing video....I know that they had stated that they have never really been able to capture one on film before.

My son just did a huge shcool project and one of the references stated that they estimate that they estimate over 9 million undocumented species. Pretty amazing!!

Anything "unknown" always sparks my interests. I always wanted to be a marine biologist so I could discover new species on marine life. I especially like marine life because of the alien like looks all the species have!

Its the one that can bring its tentacles up over its head and completely cover itself. It looks like it has a cape on. Like a big round blob it totally seals itself up in its own skin. Was that the same one? They called it a vampire squid.
