    Talking My new friend... Brutus.

    UH OH!

So... Today I went to the Montreal Reptile Expo up here north o' the border expecting to pick up a few supplies, some feeders and maybe some decorations at most. It was supposed to be a simple day. Drop off a cutie gargoyle gecko to a vendor. Drop off a couple of ball pythons to Bruce Whitehead for a breeding loan (so exciting!!)...

...and then I saw this gourgeous animal looking up at me from one of the many tables and I instantly fell in love.

His name is Brutus. And I wish I had put something in the shots for size comparison, because at 3 and a half months, he's already a BEAST. His dad has some German Giant in him and is a HUGE dragon, which excites me a lot, as I've always wanted a really large beardie. And he's looking a lot like mom, except even nicer. I love his yellow base and the orange and lavender highlights. Not to mention the patterning on his head. I'm so excited to watch him mature. He's just amazing.

Silly me, I should've probably looked for a female since I already have a great male. BUT! Sometimes they just choose us, right? And since I'm not really interested in breeding these guys, I guess this just keeps me from doing it. (Don't worry folks, I know all the do's and do not's of having two males.)

I purchased Brutus from Élevages Lisard, and I think it was their first time vending at an expo. I think I got a great deal on this fantastic guy and it really showed that they cared a lot for their animals. This little dude was supposed to be a holdback, but we all know that we can't hold them ALL back. So that's how he came to be at the show. And I'm not complaining. (They also had some great prices on silks and superworms which I got some of for my new buddy and my other friend I already have.)

I'm super to have another fantastic pet with me and am eager to watch him grow.

Did not take long to find him a name did it?

He is just a smokin' dragon. Cannot wait to see how he matures, his colors are fantastic, and with that size he is gonna be one big intimidating boy.

    Bruce

PS: Apparently he has made a pretty big fan here in the 'hood. I have been hearing dragon stories all night.

Thierry was the one who named him, actually. I think he actually tossed out the name while we were still at the show, but if not, definitely by the time we got back to your place Bruce. After hearing it, it just stuck. So thanks go to Thierry for that one! (I've still yet to name some of my snakes! But I think I like Lulu for the big female, haha. Thanks for that one. )

I'm so happy to have him. I'm already planning his 75 gallon tank that he'll eventually be in! (For the time being he's in a 40 gallon breeder.)

She will be glad to know that I can at least make formal introductions b/w her and my boys now!

I will break the news to her in the morning and see how she takes it, and I will let her know that I accept full responsibility.

I actually don't know if Lulu is going to work out for her, Bruce. She just doesn't strike me as a Lulu. She's more of a Bulah, I think, haha.

Oh... and here's an updated shot of Brutus next to a can of Coke for size reference. Remember folks, he's only 3.5 months old!
