I went out this morning without any luck finding snakes. Tons of juvi. gators though Thought I would share.

Some random shots. VERY fat little gators.






This was the smallest(2') of the 10 or so gators I saw this morning. Mom was still hanging about....begging for me to get closer to the bank.


I am pretty sure this is the reason why there are so many small fat gators around this area. The baby catfish are out in force. The black dots in the water in front of this gator are baby catfish. There are thousands of these baby catfish on the roadside bayous...and lots of gators too.


A shot of a gator showing a bit the roadside bayou. Before hurricane Katrina, there was not as much cover in the water. Now the bayous are littered with fallen trees. I think this has been helpful to the fish and gator populations. More safety.


And my favorite picture of the day. I was took a picture of this turtle. When I was looking through the photos, I noticed the gator off to the side...I didn't see it when I was looking at the turtle in the field. I love taking pictures and seeing animals that I didn't see in the first place. It seems to happen to me frequently.

Oh ya...almost forgot. I wasn't sure which chelydra(snapping turtle) this was. The picture was taken off an little bridge so I could not get close enough for positive ID. It was large with at least a 18" carapace. The two distinct lines down the carapace throws me off a bit. Opinions appreciated.
