    Ahh.. tubs. :]

Today, I found a 32 qt. tub laying around, so I thought, "Hey, I could use this."

I melted holes into it, each 2 1/2 inches apart, on both the long sides and only 2 on each side for the short sides. Now, all I need it a UTH, dimmer (temporary), and an AccuRite. I'm going to use this tub for Candice, but the only thing is that my hides don't fit in there that great. They are sort of next to each other, and my water dish is too large. Candice never really soaks at all, well I've never seen her soak at all the entire time I've had her, so I'm going to buy a smaller water dish too.

Most likely, I'm getting the UTH, Dimmer, and AccuRite tonight, or possibly tomorrow. I'm excited! :]

Still have to get stuff for Monty, but for now I'm going to see how this tub thing goes with Candice. No more humidity problems, I hope :].

Thanks to all who informed me about the tubs, and told me how to set them up, I really appreciate it.

    Yep I will, thanks.

I use the 10-20g Zoo Med UTHs, so are those plastic-friendly?

Yes, I use that UTH for my snake's tub and it works great..though, I am ordering some Flexwatt soon when I start building my rack. Anyway, as long as you closely monitor your temps, you'll be okay. Tubs are amazing..no humidity problems and cleaning is a breeze.

[don't forget that with dimmers you've gotta constantly check them. Before I got my thermostat, I had to always adjust the dimmer..temps would easily reach 101 if I didn't monitor it closely. Luckily, this was before I brought my snake home. I don't reccomend dimmers and I would buy a thermostat asap.]

I'm just going to use the dimmer temporarly, and will definitely get one as soon as I can. How much do they normally cost?

I have a Ranco and it was about $85..
ZooMed has thermostats for around $25. They aren't as nice, but still work.
