redish pinkish belly...

Hello,
Bozzum is my 4 year old ball python. He is really skiddish and jumpy. But that is not what I'm here for, we all know that during winter they get cranky and carely eat. Well, he has done it all the way until last month so we waited like 3 weeks to feed him and we gave him 2 fat white mice. Since then he has been sitting in his water bowl even more than normal. After he is done sitting in it, he knocks it on the floor. We just washed his tank and everything in it about 2 weeks ago. He doesn't look like he is about to shed, due to how shiny he is, normally he gets really dull. I'm a little worried though I have never noticed this in the 4 years I have had him.

your humidity is probably low I noticed a female sitting in her dish after she shed, i covered some air holes and raised the humidity a bit and she is back to normal.

Have you checked for mites too?

If they start soaking in their bowls, it is sometimes because of the little beasts!!!

Have you recently changed or added anything in his enclosure? Awhile back I put larger hides in my adults tank and barely a day later he was in the water bowl. He would put his head and neck in the bowl and coil his body up on top with only his nose poking out. After 2 weeks of checking for mites, temps/ humidity, and signs of shedding I thought maybe he just doesn't like the hides. I put the smaller ones back in and about an hour later he was back where he belongs...

Do you have any pics of the enclosure? And you titled the thread "Redish, pinkish,belly." If you are certain he isn't going into shed, what do your temps look like and what did you use to wash out the tank?

POST PICS! If he's not going into shed, he could have burned his belly on a hotspot thats too hot...

I've had BPs show the pink belly before they clouded over in shed. Still better to be safe and check for other issues as others have suggested, just in case.

check your hot and cool side temps with a reliable thermometer (digital) or temp gun. Red belly and hiding in water dish could be a burn thats beginning to form and he's in the dish because thats the coolest place in his enclosure.
