ISO info on mealworms for FFA project
My son's in the FFA and wants to raise mealworms for his project. We've both been researching but haven't been able to find some basic answers. Can anyone help please?
- It sounds like the going rate for mealworms is 100 for $2 in pet stores. Is this about right?
- Anyone know what the price is in baitshops per dozen?
- Can he make money doing it? He has to show a profit for his project and I'm not sure that's really possible if they sell so cheap!
- Are mealworms the best idea for a starter? From what I've read it'd be smarter for him to do super worms, but he says mealworms are the better choice.
- Is there a culling age for beetles where they've pretty much quit laying eggs?
- What's a good number to start with?
I'm sure there's other questions, but it's late and my eyes are crossing. I want him to be successful with this and am working with zero knowledge basically. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
