Woods that you don't have to seal?
Hello everyone, I was reading a Savannah monitor enclosure build and they mentioned birch wood is almost formaldehyde free so you don't have to seal it.
Is that true? wouldn't moisture still affect it?

Also what types of wood products can be used to build an enclosure so you don't have to seal it?

Piss will soak into anything. Id suggest you use Bath/Showe enclosure materials on the inside and seal all corners with Silicone. They sell 4x8 sheets at Lowes for $20.

This is a more expensive one but this gives you the point.. The one my store carries is about $23 and is a thin pvc. Anything like this that you can spray and wipe dowm is what you want.. Or you can the whole PVC enclosure for $150-$200 from AP Cages. Cant beat them, sliding glass and all.

The panels you are looking for are called FRP. They have softer PVC ones as well which is what I used for my build, it was easier to cut and work with. The humidity required for a SAV will ruin any wood that isn't sealed.

No thats like 20" x 3' shapes and they are sections that would leak. You need a flat Panel. It looks like 4x8 wall paneling but its thin PVC. You'll know when you see it, some apartments use it as cheep shower walls or halfway up bathroom walls.
