    Hognose off food?
    Hello there,

Just looking for some advice on how to get my Hoggy eating again. I've had her for a couple months and the last time she ate was on may 5th. So about 5 weeks ago. She was eating perfectly fine before and all of a sudden she decided to go on a hunger strike. I originally had her in a 20L tank but I've since downgraded to a smaller tank. Her current tank specs are as follows:

    12x12x12 tank
    2-3 in. of aspen
    2 hides
    water dish
lights are on a 10 hour cycle
    hot side: 86-88
ambient temps: currently around 75. fluctuates a bit depending on the weather outside
    humidity: 46%
some leaves and a section of plastic pipe for enrichment.

I originally got her to eat by scenting with some salmon. I tried that a few times with no luck. She seems interested and is smelling it but doesn't go for it. I normally feed her by leaving the pinky on a section of cardboard tubing. Pretty sure she's scared of the tongs. Her weight is currently 24g. She might've have lost a gram or 2 during her hunger strike but other than that she seems perfectly fine. I'm not overly concerned since shes not losing too much weight but it's a bit stressful when she needs to put on weight at the same time.

    Thank you!

Downsize and put her in an enclosure with the following footprints that are approx 13 x 8 x 5 if that does not work downsize even further to a 2.7 quarts tub.

Bump your temps slightly aim for 80 on the cool side and 88/90 on the warm side.

At this size she should be on small fuzzies not pinks

Rather than using tong just leave the prey on the enclosure floor until the next morning.

If all that does not work than it will be time to scent with the following (those are in order of what works best) - Simply keep little bead jars of each scent in your freezer so you can use and re-use week after week.

    Vienna Sausage
    Tuna
Chicken (from chicken in a can)
    Hard boiled eggs
    Sardines
    Anchovies
