As of this morning, his hemipene is still exposed. However, it has only been about 12 hours. The color seems to have turned to a paler pink, which indicates the blood draining out to me, and it seems to have shrunk some. So, I applied another treatment of sugar paste, and will watch it throughout the day.

    Another update this evening.

I recall in RDR's youtube video where one of his pastel het lavender albino males had a prolapsed rectum, he said he used Preparation H to get the rectum to back in when the male had done it in the past. However he did end up sending him to Scott Stahl (on reptile radio 03/29/09) to get fixed up. I know it is designed to treat hemmorhoids, which is likely why it worked on the snakes rectum, but perhaps it works on the same principle? By sucking the water out of the tissue and making it go back in? The reason I say this is because perhaps it would be better to use a cream as opposed to a rough sugar paste. I know I would prefer the former...

Obviously I am most definately a n00b at stuff like this, I would never doubt anything you do Tim, and I would certainly trust advice from Sean and Adam, but I just thought I would share my two cents.

Thanks for the videos Peter. I have not had any luck so far. I have pushed his hemipene back in another three times, and applied the sugar water. He still continues to leave it everted. He may be making a trip to LSU soon. I'll keep you guys in the loop.

I've had this issue with my geckos a couple of times.

The first time, I tried a sugar paste, honey, and prep H. Prep H seemed to help somewhat, but not enough. I took him in to the vet where she tried reinserting the hemipene, but it would not stay in place. She add a stitch on one side - this made defecation messy for a while, but he wasn't eating much during this time anyway. She also gave me some pain/swelling medication for him. I've used that in a number of cases - works great on the swelling aspect. Everything stayed where it was supposed to when the stitch came out and we were able to save the hemipene.

The second time Prep H was enough to do the job and no vet visit was required.

    Good luck with him!

    Well,
here is the update from tonight. Thanks for the post Nancy, you will find many similarities in this post.

Sean came by this evening, to pick up some equipment. While here was here, I asked him to look at the Bee before I sent him to Havier at LSU. Sean looked, and asked fora probe set. With the help of the probe set and some fancy manuvering, he was able to get the hemipene back into the tail. After returning it, we put a bandaid on it. The first thing I asked was about defecation. Sean said thatv the vet would probably sew it shut anyway. At worst, he would have some waste backed up when I remove the band-aid. We'll just have to watch him, and help to palpate any built up waste out after we remove the band-aid (in about 7b days). The band-aid looks a little tight, but I will probably put a new one on tomorrow, and loosen it if it looks like it is healing and staying in place. I'll keep up. Here is the pick.

Hey Tim, after you take the bandaid off, I would see if you can pack some hemmorhoidal ointment in there and then put a non-stick gauze pad on top, then wrap with vet wrap. The vet wrap is a bit more breathable and won't constrict the vessels to the tail. :)

Thanks for the tips Becky. Does the vet wrap work that good? I would think they could roll it off too easily.

Wow Tim frist of all I'm sorry to hear that the little boy is doing poorly. I will have to say though that over the last year or so you have become quite the home vet.

I hope that Seans fix work for ya in time to get it with that Blast. :D

P.S. I'm in your neck of the woods the weekend of Passover..I need to stop by have a beer and catch up.
