Bad nose rub or....?

Hey everyone, first post.

I have a red tail boa that is a notorious rubber always trying to get out and this was the result, given the circumstance what would be the course of action currently in blue right now substrate is removed and in as sterile of an environment that i can provide. I would wipe it with betadine, let that dry, and then put a bit of neosporin with no painkiller. repeat until resolved. If you notice its getting worse goto a vet.

Good that you "removed the substrate"- paper towels are a good choice while snakes are healing, plus any bleeding or oozing shows up...always better to know.
I agree with dabbing some Betadine (aka Povidone-iodine). Neosporin (regular, NOT pain relief) can be used sparingly (it's petroleum based & can cause problems
with skin/shedding, but a BETTER choice is to order some Vetericyn- it's a water based topical antiseptic gel designed for use on snakes. (-local vet might carry it?)
If this gets worse, see your vet...she might need antibiotic injections...and if this injury is repeated, it can turn into a deeper infection that requires surgical removal;
if untreated, this can become a fairly serious health threat, since the infection is near the mouth, brain, eyes...important stuff.

Is it possible that her enclosure is too small? or unsuitable in some way? -what are the dimensions? what are the temperatures (hi & low)? It's more likely a male
snake that is restless to breed that behaves this way, so maybe there is something that needs to be changed to keep your pet happy & healthy?

Petco typically stocks Vetericyn gel. If your local one doesn't have it, it's available from Amazon.

There is a picture of the enclosure not exactly sure of the gender to be honest. the temps are 80 warm about 74 on the cool end using a radient heat panel. Cage is 6x2x2 he/she is about 9 ft
