First pet of my life without scales...meet Doc...a stray
Well, last week I was walking into work at 5AM on Monday just finishing up with the morning cigarette and black coffee when I heard a stray cat meowing and before I know it he was circling my feet and rubbing up against my legs. It was roughly 25 degrees out in central Wisconsin that morning and he was pretty cold. After hesitantly petting him I discovered he was very friendly. I picked him up and he instantly started purring.

I talked to my boss, and told him I was going to drop him off at the humane society. Well on the ride home I have to say he won my heart by trying to repeatedly climb on my lap and fall asleep so I decided there was no way I’d give him up given the rate of cats put down in shelters. Spent that night going on a cat shopping trip and calling vets to get his rabies, distemper, and neutering appointments. He is doing great and has since been fixed and vaccinated. He’s on the thin side at 7lbs and has been estimated to be about a year old....gained a full pound in a week a goes bonkers over his food.

What an adorable, handsome new friend you have! He looks like he's settled right in to his new home. :)

Given the chance, cats pick their person, then figure out what is required to convince said person to take them home. ;)

Awww, super cute and great story!!

I grew up in a dog household and never liked cats much...until I lived with one. A roommate of mine had a cat years ago and within a year of living with him I had a kitten of my own. Cats are awesome pets, I love watching their primitive hunting behavior. They're just like tiny tigers!!! Hahahhahaha

Anyway, good on you for helping the cat, I'm sure you'll both be happy together for years to come. Meow!

He looks JUST like our man, Zeke! Zekers was adopted too... saw him at a pet store for adoption and brought him home on a whim. It’s crazy how well he fits in; we were a bit concerned with three big dogs, but he didn’t mind them a bit, and has a bromance with our German Shepherd.

It is funny how sometimes they pick you rather than you picking them.

    Congrats man.

Don't let anyone tell you different, cats feel love.

Considering the circumstances and that the he chose you, you can look forward to many years of a deep and affectionate relationship like no other.

While I'm more of a dog person (& my current 2 dogs would never allow a cat), I have to say I'm a sucker for a desperate fur-baby & would have had to help this
guy too. Way to go! Sometimes the best things in our lives just aren't planned...look what you might have missed but for your big open heart?

Kevin, what a awesome story and with a happy ending too! Doc is a very handsome cat and looks like he is thriving in his new home. I agree with the others, cats and dogs will pick their owners if given a chance. Thank you for taking in Doc and giving him another second chance at life. Wishing you and your new friend many wonderful years together.
