Colour Confusion
I appeal to the experts to help me here. I have 2 RTB's. A big female I rescued about 6 years ago, she had a major RTI, which I managed to sort out. Then about 3 years ago I rescued a young male RTB who was malnourished, dehydrated and covered in mites. I need help because they are different coloured. The female is dark with almost bold outlining on the saddles. The smaller male is almost like a pale colour with a lot of speckles. Are they the same morph (Normals), or are they different. Thank you in advance for your opinions. Pics to follow. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ae61a25f32.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2b348c7afb.jpg

Re: Colour Confusion
Beautiful boas! To me they look like normals. There is a fair amount of color variation with the normal phase, as well as in how clean the pattern looks.

Re: Colour Confusion
Nice looking boas,
If no parental lineage is known they can only be classed as a really nice common boa or bci,(boa constrictor imperata )(bi) now
The BCI gene pool has been so muddied of the years with people crossbreeding localities to get some amazing morphs it's really hard to tell on most now.
I have a nice common boa too I'm sure she is mostly central American genes down to her size etc but I will never know for sure so I just class het as a common boa, the red tail boas normally refer to the BCC (guyana/Surinam and a few more, these are quite distinctive with mostly really red tail ( some don't ) but they also have different shapes heads and bat like saddles some people call them widow's peaks, and are normally alot more expensive as there quite sort after in the boa world ,I've also got a little Guyana and a few other locality boas that are quite distinctive ,I also own a few decent BCI morphs
Hope this helps

Re: Colour Confusion
I like the male more because of his very light colouring and the black speckles.

They both look great to me, & viva la difference! :gj: I'd take Richard's (richardhind1972's) word for it, he knows his boas. :snake:
