    close to the end?
I have a jade goby who i've had for a while now, well my oscar has been picking on him a little and he started to go into hiding without eating which is highly unlike him. He usally comes out as soon as the top of the tank is lifted. Any way i was looking for him today (the back of the tank is painted black from the previous owner and he likes to hid in the plants) and i found him... behind and outside of the tank. my first though was he was dead, but when i nudged him with the new to pick him up he started to squirm. So i quickly picked him up and put him back into the water and moved him back and forth to get some water into his gills. so far he is still breathing but he is really badly beat up. based on how bad he looks i give him a 30/70 chance of living. With luck he will survive the night. If he does live im going to move him into my other tank for recovery but it doesn't look good.

Aw poor baby, I hope he makes it.

Oscars can be nasty little fish, or big fish rather. Hence why mine lives with a Jack Dempsey who will readily defend himself, or moreover readily go after the Oscar.

Fish are ok if they are out of the tank for a few hours. They should be isolated and given a bit of Stress Coat, but most times they will make a full comeback.
Sorry to hear about your fella, if it makes you feel any better, some fish are just prone to "carpet surfing". I am actually babysitting a tiretrack eel in my 210gal that has made several surfing attempts. His name is now fuzz (short for carpet fuzz).
