Well it was slim pickings at the two shows this weekend, however I found what I was going for. She was the biggest one this particular breeder had at 8 grams lol. Seems to be settling in quite well. Followed everyone’s suggestions and got a 2.5qt tub setup with aspen chips.

Here’s how she slept all night.

Then she dug a pit in the corner over the hot spot after spending most of today burrowed.

She ate a live pinkie today so I will attempt a f/t Wednesday. Here’s to hoping she stays on track. Still can’t believe how tiny she is and how big she will potentially get.

I live her personality thus far. She is very inquisitive and comes towards me every time she notices me near her tub. She gave me the full huff and bluff yesterday after I got her tub setup.

Wish I had jumped on this bandwagon years ago.

Thanks for all the advice so far.

    Cody

Well she has resumed her sleeping position between her water dish and tub. I find it interesting that she hangs out on the warm side until 10-10:30 pm then tucks herself in to bed. I have a feeling she’ll be a tank decorator when she’s older.

Wow pretty cute! I am planning on getting a hognose or two as well. But before I jump that wagon I need a bit more research lol. I never go into a pet without a couple days MINIMUM but typically a week or so of research.

Congrats and welcome to the hognose family.

Cosmo likes to cram himself into places like that too. He'll wiggle his way into spaces between the glass and some of the decorations in his tank all the time. He also loves to sleep under his little water dishes.
He's definitely a tiny bulldozer too.

Anyway, congrats again and enjoy your new hognose!

Well she took f/t no problem tonight. Laid it on top of her hide and watched from afar until she had it up to the shoulders. Then had to snap a pic.

She’s on her way now as long as she keeps it up like this.

Does anyone have a rough feeding schedule similar to the one for BPs? She’s about 8 grams however the pinkies barely leave a bulge (if I didn’t watch her eat I wouldn’t know). Not looking to up the size but wondering when to double up. Also I’m looking into starting to breeding rats for my BPs, are they too fatty to feed her when she’s older? Do female hoggies ever get to adult mice or do they max out before then?

    Thanks Cody.
