    Soaking befoe a shed
When I lifted my snake's hide to take a look today, I saw that his eyes and skin were cloudy and pale so he's close to shedding. So I put a large water dish in the tank in case he needed a soak and cleaned his water dish. When I put it back, he went straight for the smaller dish and dunked his head in. He even got some water in his nose and sneezed up some bubbles, so I took this pic:

Cute. That was fun to witness I bet. Also, means he's comfortable with you and not modest!

If it wants to soak, it will.... if not, then it won't. Let it choose. Some of mine like to when it's time to shed, but most don't.

    Good looking bp!

Yeah, I prefer humidifying the whole tank during a shed time. I don't use tanks anymore (tubs now) but when I did, I would mist the tank with warm water and cover the top mostly with saran wrap to retain humidity. It worked like a charm. I might make mistakes and be imperfect, but my snakes always shed perfectly; no lie-ing :)

I think he was saying that the snake did this on his own. And he happened to witness it.

Hey, my male 50% het for pied (Sir Ulrich) is about to go into shed and he soaked for a day and then went into the hide on the hot side to start. I have him in a tank right now and I am misting to keep that humidity up around 70%. At first I didn't have the top covered and the humidity was everywhere. Now it is almost perfect. My normal female (Gwen) shed a week ago and it was a perfect shed. Its great when you look in there and its in one piece.
