    RIP Chopper
2 weeks ago we picked up a early Xmas present for my sons. A cute little black lab puppy. Late yesterday afternoon he started acting funny then was crying out in severe pain anything we picked him up or moved him. At 2:30am I rushed him into the ER. The vet checked him out and determed he had hydrocephalus (water on the brain). While she was going over his treatment options (steroids, diuretics, a shunt in his brain) he started to seziure really bad and she said the best thing would be to put him down and releive him of his misery. 7 1/2 weeks was too short of a life for him but he was in our lives long enough that it shattered our hearts to let him go.
    Rest in Peace Chopper

Oh no. I'm so sorry for your loss. He was very cute.
    A very sad story. :(

Did you contact the breeder about it? Sounds like it was a congenital issue. And in many states, its illegal for puppies to leave their mother under 8 weeks of age.

Aw! That's so sad! I've got a black lab/pit mix. I've had her for 9 years & I don't know what I'll do when her day comes. :(

I wonder if it had anythig to do with the fact that Chopper was taken from his mom at less than 6 weeks of age. Having bred dogs in the past I never let a pup go that was less than 8 weeks old. Have you guys attempted to replace him at all or are you still puppy-less?
