Hi I am about to buy my ball python more rats right now he is eating medium rats but only eats once a month. Should I move down a size so he eats more often? He is 3 years old and 3 feet long. Also what size should I be feeding my couple of month old python because she has been eating fuzzy mice.

unrelated note my younger python has slightly wrinkly skin and im not sure why my laptop wont let me post a picture or I would post one.

Buy a scale to weigh your snakes. Amazon has them under $25. Read this about snake weight to prey size/weight.

Loose skin? Is your snake about to shed? What do the eyes look like?

A male will almost never need anything larger than a small rat. My 10-11yr old, 1600gram male eats smalls every two weeks and still goes on a feeding hiatus for at least a few months a year

Hard to say without knowing exact size but the younger one should probably be eating bigger mice. And I really hope you are feeding it more than once a month. I would say probably a small full grown mouse once a week but like I said hard to know for sure without weight and size of snake.

    A) mediums are too big for most male BPs. Mine are both in the 1400 gram range and get a small every 10-14 days or so.
Larger meals are harder to digest and lead to refusals.

    B) fuzzies are WAAAY too small. BPs eat hopers from the time they hatch. Typically only 3-5 meals of hoppers before they move up to small adult mice.
