    Herpstat EZ vs standard Herpstat?
I need to get a couple more Herpstats, and Spyder Robotics is currently sold out of the models I need, though they estimate more will be available in about 3 weeks. They do have the Herpstat EZ available, and I was wondering whether these would be fine instead of the standard Herpstats?

The 'EZ' seems to have what I need (proportional heating, dimming or pulse options, basking assist, alarm system, automatic shutoff, etc.).

Is there any reason I should hesitate to get the EZ?

I’ve not used the EZ models personally, but reptile supply co looks to have the standard models available? Wild how fast they’ve been going out of stock everywhere. I got my Herpstat 4 from Pangea Reptiles a few months back because spyder robotics was out of stock at the time

The most important difference between the EZ and Herpstat 1 is that the EZ lacks a safety power relay, which will prevent the thermostat from failing in the ON position. One of the main reasons people buy the pricier Herpstat models is for the safety relay. I would say wait for the models that have a safety relay (Herpstat 1 and up) to be back in stock or get a VE-300 (or higher) model because they have the same features as the Herpstat 1+ line and a good reputation as well.

A thermostat failure in the ON position is a nightmare. I'm glad I posted. I'll check the other sources mentioned or just wait for the standard models.

    Thanks so much!
