how do you keep record your mice colony

Do you keep record your mice breeding colony and what you keep in your record.

I don't keep any records on my rats or mice. They come and go so quickly . . . .

I don't keep records of my rat colony.

I don't keep records on the mice or rats that live in colonies. The only thing I keep track of on the rats is what date the male goes in, and then what date the babies are born. I have a screw to the side of each tub that a tag can be hung on. This way I know when to expect which litters, and when they're due to be weaned if they're feeders, or when they can be bred if they're holdback females. I also can write down who dad was on the tag if I'm doing selective stuff.

i don't keep any record on the rodents. I do take he baby asf and mix them up ( while they are still nursing ) when I change their bedding ( place all 3 tub worht of babies into a large tubaware container, count them and then divide the babies uo among the 3 tanks. Then I take the larger males asf out and feed them off to the snakes so I can try and keep as wide of a mix gene pool as possible.. Sadly this seems to have all but removed the ablino asf from my colonies since they were so few in numbers..

I put a little sticky tag on the rack above the tub with the date that the group was put together. That way I know when to retire them. Other then that I don't keep records.

The only thing I keep track of is age of my breeders and when the male was put in and removed. Start with a few quality bloodlines and you wont have to worry about to much inbreeding.

I keep track of my breeders when they gave birth or when they are going into my breeding tank and with which male so i don't inbreed to much. I don't keep track of any feeders just the ones that give me the babies and the ones that prodice it. i have a sheet that i write it on and when I plan to mate them again to keep my cycles going. on my paper i just have a table set up and it says what mice are the breeders, which make breed them, the date they went into the breeding tank, when they gave birth, and when they can go back into the breeding tank to do the cycle again. i also keep track of their litter size and how many they also have so that when it's time for them to become a feeder i will know.
