Thanks jm. The viv is 4ft x 2.5ft x 2ft, he will get an upgrade eventually, he's got loads of room still at the mo, but he's 3 soon so I don't think he's gonna be a big monster anyway

Same as my Suriname. He just turned three and is in the same size enclosure. Honestly doubt he’ll need anything bigger, but time will tell.

The true red tails aren't all massive 10 footers like people think, a lot of Brian's boas true red tails Suriname and Guyana are mostly under 6ft,think alot depends on over feeding really

Exactly! While some of them have to potential to reach close to 10’ that doesn’t mean that all of them will or even should get that big.
I’ll have to dig up some old Gus Renfro writings that Gio sent me a few years ago. He explains that the biggest boas are the oldest boas and that any boa of 8’ or more should be regarded as a damn big boa and is an exception to the rule in terms of size.

Yes thats very true, but I'm sure that's what put alot of people off getting a boa in the first place,
There's some amazing small locality boas available. pretty much a boa for most people. If they do the research properly.
at least you very rarely have to worry about about a boa on a hunger strike [emoji23][emoji23]

Maybe not reliably staying under 6’, but no reason they ~need to get huge either. Some will just get bigger no matter what and conversely some will never get huge no matter how hard you try.
I’ve read a couple things saying that Pokigron Surinames tend to stay a tad smaller than other suris. My male Suriname is barely 4’ if even that and is just over 3yo.
I do feed rather sparingly and not huge meals either. Though I may offer medium rats to at least the Argentine before the end of summer this year. We shall see.
