UTH for new cage?

Planning on building my first enclosures. Going to be 4'x2'x16" high. I'm going with plywood for back, sides and top, going to have a plexi door. The thing I'm having problem with is the floor. What can I use for flooring that it going to be waterproof, and I can heat through? In other words, how the heck do I heat this thing? Planning on using flexwatt...

i am building a wooden cage now, and i asked the same question! i was told to use flexwatt on a wooden enclosure. im gonna try that if worst comes to worst ill lay slate tile down on the base of the wooden enclosure and put flexwatt onm that and a piece of glass or something on top of that instead of just on the wood with glass over it.

The flexwatt will not get hot enough (450 degrees) to catch the wood on fire. However, in order to work properly there should be air space either above or below the flexwatt. If you make the bottom of your cage out of something that will allow the transfer of heat (1/4 plexiglass) for instance, you will be able to attach your uth to the bottom outside. If not, you will have to get the uth inside the enclosure and make sure there is some airflow above or below the flexwatt, and insure that your snake cannot come into direct contact with it.

This is how i do all bottom of wood cages. i tile the uth to the bottom. and then hot glue the t-stat probe on the uth so it can not move. been doing this for 2 years now and love it.

I drill holes under the uth so it can breath from outside of cage.

I'm not sure I understand what I'm seeing, could you explain more? Is that a wood bottom, then you have tile on top of that with the UTH attached to the tile? Do you have tile like grouted to the wood and everything to be a nice seal? Sorry I'm confused.

i tap the uth down where i want it. then i use the sticky paper back tile you peel off. then i tile the bottom and around the uth leaving NO tape exposed. once its tiled i then use Hot Glue to seal it in
