Common For Retics To Spend Most Of Their Time On Cool Side?
As a lot of you already know, I just received my SD Retics a couple weeks ago... I notice that they seem to spend the vast majority of their time on the cool side. Is that normal? Cool side: 75 - 78 degrees/Hot Side: 88 - 90 degrees...

Yup. Caesar spent time on the warm side as a baby but now that he is all grown up, he spends like 95% of the time on the cool side....or destroying the warm side of his cage.

It's fine by me... It makes it that much easier for me to get them out and man handle them! LOL! I just love these beautiful creatures sooo freakin' much! The hard part with Sixx is getting him back in his tub when it's time for him to go home! The little terd tries to go everywhere, BUT back in his tub!

Yeah, Caesar is weird. He is usually content to stay in his cage except at night when he wants to play. Today though, he was pushing some so i opened his cage. He came over to greet me like usual and i sat there and pet him for a while. Then i left his door open and came over to the computer and when i looked over, he had gone back into his cool hide and curled up. I guess he was pushing cause he wanted some attention? After i pet him and interacted with him, he seemed content and like i said, he hung his head outside the cage for a little bit and then went back into his hide and curled up lol. Such a weirdo. He will do that at night too sometimes. Push until he gets attention and petting and then go back to being a quiet snake.

These guys are just something else... I have all kinds of pet names for Sixx. I call him "King Sixx"... "Little Giant Sixx"... "Baby Dinosaur Sixx"... "Sssexxy Sixx"... And, the list goes on... lol I love Xanthess, too. She just isn't as personable as Sixx. I'm hoping she settles down a little and stops being so flighty at some point. For the most part, she is in perpetual motion, heading down and away. Sixx seems to love hanging out on his human tree and taking in all of the surroundings... lol

Gerald spends 90% of his time in his sky hide on the cool side, Phyllis however spends most of her time on the warm side. Whenever they're not on their favorite side of the cage they're destroying the rest of the cage regardless of the temperature

Lol was just thinking last night about how you were going to try and lower the temps to see if it made a difference and i never heard anything about it. Guess this pretty much answers that question.

Lol yeah lower temps didn't seem to do much if anything. I even raised them a good bit while she was in shed with a huge swollen face and no difference. Seems to prefer the warm side whether it's 85* or 93* or anywhere in between. She's a freak

I don’t own any snake over 5 feet, much less a retic, but I just wanted to say I like your new custom-built cage.
    Nice.
