    Stargazing
Can someone define "stargazing" for me? Most especially, how can I tell the difference between stargazing which would be a symptom of an illness, or simply looking up sometimes?

I think my snake is totally healthy. If I had never read that stargazing can be a symptom of illness, I don't think I'd be concerned at all. She seems to look up a lot and try to climb to the highest spots in her cage and also stretch her body up until her nose touches the screen. But she also does look down once she has climbed to one of those higher spots. Every once in a while when she is stretching really far up, she'll overbalance and fall over sideways or even backwards. When she does she rights herself quickly.

So am I just an overworried new mom?

She's a new snake? My guess is that she's just checking out her new digs...:)

I wouldnt worry about it too much. Ive had mine for a few months and he does the same thing when he comes out. He even tries crawling around the lip of the tank between the screen top. They are just very curious and like to search their surroundings.
