First photo attempt with photo tent...(DUW)...
....and boy do I suck!!! :P

I just got a photo tent (http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=98219) today and was super stoked. I ran around the house grabbing any sort lamp I could find. So ya, I really need help on what type of lighting to use. These photos were done using light on 2 sides and the top. They are very yellow and I could use some recommendations on what type of lights/bulbs to try. :P Oh well, here are some of the animals who were willing to cooperate with me. ;)

Don't be so hard on yourself, pics came out pretty good. I've been using the natural light bulbs or full spectrum bulbs. The highest wattage that I could find. Also I download a program called GIMP from www.gimp.org and I've been using that to edit the white balance of my photos. Its been making a huge difference.

Heres a tip.. Photo bulbs are messured in two ways..Wattage and Kelvin units.. the higher the Kelvin units the white and "brighter" the light. The wattage is simply a way to tell the ammount of electrical power reuired to light the bulb to its fullest.

    I use a 5200 Kelvin bulb and a 3200 Kelvin.

Can those be found anywhere else you may find your generic 60 watt light bulb? Or do you have to order them specially?

These need to be gotten for a photography shop. Any photo lab or even online photo supply store will carry them..

I warn you the incandescent bulbs are about 5-15.00 each and they are rated for anywhere between 2-10 hours of continual use. So you'll want to turn them on take the pics and turn them off.

wowser! Do they require any sort of special light fixture? I used accent fixtures for these http://theinfernoproject.files.wordp...1/dsc04695.jpg With a standard 60 watt bulb.

Your getting off color white because the light your using isn't white. Most house hold bulbs are designed to be softening where as photo bulbs are made to be as close to the light the sun produces at high noon.

It just takes time and fiddleing with it.. I'd suggest if your serious getting on a digital Photo forum and be a sponge.

For best results you can..Those pics above I simply used an old desk lamp. You get better results with a fixture and reflector made for pics. If your using a Photo tent then not so much.
