    It's just knockoffs or other sources that may still have the sharper chunks and not the fine type. In that case, I would still be careful with snakes if like op they tend to drag and pick up bedding. Scratching up the mouth or esophagus might lead to food aversions or infection.

    I never personally used or had an issue with a ground walnut shell product in the past, but I remember that many did- with internally injured animals from "razor-sharp edges" as a result. So I almost posted about that & thank Armiyana for doing so, especially with more personal experience on that. I went & looked up this current product also, & it appears to be little or no risk- but as mentioned, beware of "imitations". Companies try to provide economical products that make sense to them, but there's nothing like real-life animal experience to test for safety.
