    BP Feeding - Outside Hide
I'm curious what most do when it's feeding time and you find your BP roaming outside their hide. My BP is a picky eater but he's on a hot streak (4 FT rats in a row). When I went to feed him tonight he's outside the hide roaming (which I'm pretty sure would be a failure if I tried to feed). Do most owners check back a couple hours later until they retreat into the hide and then offer?

Usually if mine are not in a hide then they are up in front of the tub and come flying out with a wide open mouth when the tub opens up. So yes, they get fed.

    Lucky you ;)

I've tried to feed mine outside of his hide and it almost scared him to the point where he ran to his hide.

I put the rat in the same room as him when I'm warming it. The smell always has him coming halfway out of his hide and he cranes his head to push on the lid. As soon as I take the lid off I have to act fast and get the rat into the bin before he decides to come out and get it himself.

Even roaming he does the same thing.

I’m lucky, mine are drop feeders. If they are in the hide I “walk” the ASF by the opening. If nobody hits it I leave it on the hide.

If it’s still there in 45 minutes it goes to a rat snake or young Boa.

    Good luck!

Well this is a 1st (after 3 years)........

After checking on him every 30 minutes to see if he had retreated to his hide, I finally gave and offered while he was pressed against the front glass. I heated the rat up and he darted outside the enclosure and attacked to the point where I had to lift him up and put him back in his enclosure. This is now 5 rats in a row........ Either PerfectPrey has some really tasty rats or I'm just witnessing a lucky streak!!!

So not only has he not struck in several years (usually a drop feeder) or eaten outside his hide, but he's struck now 5 times in a row!! This is a totally different snake!! I guess he heard me when I was talking about getting rid of him ;)
