Animals up for adoption at the September meeting of MHS

Sorry about skipping a few months there too much to do over the summer. Here are the animals that will be available for adoption at the September meeting of MHS tonight at 7:00PM

In order to be eligible to adopt a reptile or amphibian from the MHS you must be a member of the MHS (You can join at the meeting if you like) and you must be present. The meeting takes place at Borlaug hall room 335 on the U of M Saint Paul campus Friday September 5th at 7:00pm. (1991 Upper Buford Circle Saint Paul MN)

For the sept meeting we will have:

half a dozen Bearded Dragons, a Leopard Gecko, A Red Tegu (beautiful large adult), Russian Tortoise, Asian Box Turtle, Snapping turtle, 2 Sulcata Tortoises (one is about 50/60lbs the other is smaller), Mud turtle (white-lipped mud turtle (Kinosternon leucostomum)), Western Painted turtle, Yellow Belly Slider, over a dozen Red-eared sliders, California Kingsnake, 3 Cornsnakes, Albino Burmese Python (med/large), Several Common Boas, and Many Many Ball Pythons.

Returning will be an Alligator (about 4-5 foot), Common Boas, Ball Pythons, Reeves Turtle, Peninsula Cooter, Southern Painted turtle and maybe more.

Most of the incoming animals appear to be in good condition with very few that will be needing extra TLC.

A special note on the red eared sliders, there is a push right now from the MN DNR to list Red Eared Sliders as an invasive species in MN, if this happens it's probable that RES will be illegal to own in MN. At this time it's unclear what would happen to the RES that are surrendered to the MHS for adoption but it's doubtful that we would be able to place them in MN homes and they may have to be euthanized. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.
