So, they didn't give many details*, but at least they didn't use a file photo of a ball python?
(*Was it DOR? -it doesn't appear to be. What species? Estimated age- ie. is or was it thriving?)

Experts said the snake’s third eye, on the top of its head, was a natural mutation. X-ray scans showed the snake did not have two heads formed together, but rather a single head which formed an additional eye.

Though rare, mutations like this have been documented on various wild animals. Click here to check out some of the most incredible animal mutations ever recorded, including three headed frogs and two headed snakes.

Yeah someone posted that here 2 yrs ago when it was originally found. The original article said it died within a few weeks of finding it.

Thanks, & oops, I didn't check the date, a friend just sent it to me. I'm a trusting soul at times. The snake sorta gives me a sympathy-headache.

Not only because it means the animal's suffering is short (I can't imagine having a giant lump on your head with an extra eye jammed in the middle is comfortable), but also that they usually don't live long enough to potentially pass on whatever went wrong with their genes that led to such an unfortunate outcome in the first place.
