My Version of the 'Chill' Tree - (Copyright Kerig3)
After seeing what Kerig3 did, I decided to make my own!

Inspiration credit goes all to Kerig3! Thanks Kerig3!
My version isn't as cool looking as I didn't spend much time on making it, I just wanted to see if Guinness (my BP) would like the 'rough draft' version.

It seems he does! He was exploring it, flicking his tongue out like crazy at every leaf and square inch of PVC.

Only one problem though; I can't get him off the tree now :(
He's coiled around the vines and very very intent on staying there it seems! Mission... accomplished? lol

    PICS!

Very cool! Do you think it ought to be lower to the ground and maybe with another (lower) branch? Balls are not known for their climbing skills....!

It's about 2.5feet from the ground. Not too tall. The picture makes it look taller.

To be honest, Guinness still doesn't want to come off the tree and is still checking it out. He's been up on it for a good 20 minutes now and DAMN he's got a strong grip! I want him to come off so I can go make dinner! lol

Yup, the picture makes it look much taller! I read research that suggested male ball pythons climb significantly more than females... But, you only have a male and so can not do a comparison.... QUICK! get another!!!!!

To be quite honest I don;t know if mine is a male or female. I just call him he! I should really find out. *heads to the popping tutorial section*

    Hey Karbon,
I'm so glad to have inspired you to give the tree a try! :gj:
I love the curved piece of PVC...would have saved me some $$, had Menards had such a pipe.

I haven't forgotten to writing up instructions for my tree...I just got busy and lost my free time. I promise to work on them just as soon as I can.

As for the vine and having Guinness wrapping around it making it difficult to take him off; I had the same problem with Monty :P
So what I did was to hot-glue the vine to the pipe every 6 inches or so. This keeps him from getting tangled in the vine, but allows him to use it to hold on to.

As for the height from the ground, I probably have my chill tree way too high, which I compensate for by using pillows below. But Monty's only fallen once, and that was when he was still getting used to it. He seems to have better command of the tree now, and the non-loose vines also seem to help his grip and keep him from making any unexpected moves.

    Anyway, GREAT job!

And thanks for your patience with me while I write up some instructions. After all, I myself didn't have instructions to go by, and I'll have to recollect just what I did, step-by-step, to create the tree...not an easy task at my age! :O

I'd recommend putting some pillows or something soft all the way around the bottom, just in case. That 2.5 feet is a lot more significant when your so little.
