Late Stage Growth Coastal Carpet.

I would definitely describe it as prehistoric! 😂 I think it just make them seem that little more beastly! We have a royal as well and we always say he's the puppy and she's the beast!

I can definitely see the growth on jewel since the last time I had a look on here (been a hectic few months for me)! You must be so pleased she seems to have that carpet appetite now!

Yes,

I was somewhat perplexed and disappointed early on. She refused food frequently or would only take live.


Things have improved this summer, a lot and I'm very happy.

We have a royal as well and refusals are normal with her. The other three I bought for activity and food response.

I remember your posts on her and how she would refuse frequently! So it's great to hear she's making such improvements.

My royals appetite is virtually non- existent, he'll come out one evening looking for a rat so I'll get one out and defrosted ready for the next night and he refuses! Luckily the carpet just takes it no questions asked!

She's still hitting the food hard.

I think the formula for her is a mix of live and F/T. For a while it was only live, which was easy because the royal would refuse live a lot.

Once she got aggressive, she would take F/T within 10 days of the live feed.

Snakes are odd and very individualistic. I think I have this girl somewhat figured out.

Still my "nicest" , most social snake.

Love the Aussie personalities!

Jewel is one of my forum favorites, she looks great!

I have experienced similar growth with my two female Coastals as well.

Lizzy grew a foot from year 7 to 8. Interestingly, that was her size too. She went from 7 foot to 8. I thought that she was done visibly growing at 5 years. Strangely enough, this growth spurt happened during the year of many skipped meals.

Etta, running a foot shorter than brother Mack who is 8 feet at 5 years old. Etta only ate 1/2 of what Mack did, thus she was noticeably smaller. Then all of a sudden, this past year (from 4-5 years old) she could not get enough food. She practically stayed in food mode. She added another foot to match Mack in length, but not girth.

As as far as color change; Mack went from that light tan color, almost Carmel to a black, white, and gray just like Lizzy and Jewel. Now His sister Etta keep her carmel color.

Since you like Boas, I’ll add this. I got Punch at 10 years of age and 7 feet long. I have cut his feeding frequency in half and only feed him 1/4 of what the previous owner did. He has added a foot in length this past year.

My other Boa, Butch has not appeared to gain an inch in the last 3-4 years. He’s somewhere between 5-6 feet. I have never been able to get a reliable measurement of him.

Butch, no growth. I wonder if he is a dwarf.

One thing is for certain, not too much is engraved in stone with these guys.

Interesting info.

It seems the late stage growth is similar for our carpets.

I always loved your batch. Very neat I must say! You and Zig did well.
