    dumbo
Do dumbo females make good breeders? Is it ok to mix them with other rats. Would they produce half and half on the offspring?

Not sure on the last question but as far as I know there are no issues with dumbos as breeders. I have 1 female and one male right now that are dumbos. It's just a slightly different looking rat :D. If I'm not mistaken however it is a recessive trait so you'd need either two dumbos or you could breed and get het dumbos. But I'm not sure lol

I have a few dumbos and they are great moms, as far as genetics go Dumbos are recessive so no you will no produce half and half unless of course your male is an het dumbo.

Being a Dumbo makes no difference to their parental skills, or offspring numbers. Other traits can make a difference...

If you breed your Dumbo to a standard eared rat, you will have standard eared offspring that is 100% recessive for Dumbo.

The best part of dumbos is that almost any pet store will buy extra feeders

Exactly, and if you wanted to get dumbo from the normal eared offspring you would have to mix them with a dumbo or another het dumbo. If you really want to get some dumbo, if you mix the offspring together you will get dumbo, but that will cause alot of other problems if either of the parents were inbred before.
Dumbos make GREAT moms, they are usually a bit more hyper than any other breed, in my opinion, so they make sure to clean, take care of, feed, and house all the pups.
