Unfortunately that seems about the norm, it makes me quite upset seeing people do that to their animals. :( We have a responsibility as being the thing they depend on to properly care for our animals.
I'm not sure how old or how big your boa is, but it should be eating prey items roughly the size of her girth without leaving a large bulge. If she's just a baby, I would stick to mouse hoppers over rat pinks because of the points I mentioned above. I would move up once the next size up is small enough to leave just a small bulge, it's ok for the prey not to leave any bulge while you wait to move up.

Yeah, she just came into this world on July 16th, so she's fresh still. I couldn't possibly even imagine her taking down a pup, honestly. So small... you can just barely see where the pinkie is when she's eaten.
I'll take your advice, I'll finish off the couple pinkies in the freezer and then switch to mouse hoppers.

Yeah rat pups are huge for a baby...they're roughly the same size as an adult mouse or a small jumbo on the bigger end. She might be able to physically get one down depending on how large she is (some babies are born really tiny) but that doesn't mean she should be eating them. :/

It's all about getting big fast for some people, unfortunately.

I can't get over how orange she is! The colours are so dark and vibrant, whereas my girl is all yellow and light. She's lovely.

Thanks! I can see why her breeder wanted her as a holdback, she's lost a bit of her vibrance but is still quite bright. Kinda sad her coralling isn't going anywhere though it's actually toned down in the last few sheds. :/
I love how her head spear almost looks burnt on her with the way it's fuzzy around the edges, and her head has a bunch of weird tones to it that I can't capture easily on the camera (mostly because she doesn't sit still).
