    Thermostats: FB120 VS Herpstat 2
They both seem to have all the same features.. does anybody have personal experience with either? I'm trying to decide which one I'm getting by tomorrow hahaha !!

I was looking at them and i couldnt find any technical specs on it. What are the variances in probe readings? What passive and active safeties does it offer?

The biggest thing about Herpstats is they offer 2 safeties if you opt for a Herpstat 1 or higher. They have a user set hi/lo thresh hold you can set. They have a mechanical relay that trips if something goes wrong. And they offer the ability to either shut down the whole unit on an error or just the channel in question.

You are mostly buying a t-stat for the safeties in case something goes wrong. I would question the Freedom Breeder one as like i said, they offer no tech sheet. They throw out a few perks of it but not the most important points to a t-stat.

With all that said, I have 2 Herpstat 6 and a Herpstat 1 Redline. I've had like 3 Herpstat 2 Redlines and normals and a couple Herpstat 1 redline and normals as well over the years and i have never had a failure on one yet(knock on wood). So my vote would go to them hands down.

They do have the high and low alarms, but I'm not sure about the hole shut off thing. I saw a how to video on how to set them up on TGRRackSystem.com. ( that's where I get my racks). I no herpstat is an elite level thermostat hands down and you can't argue it hahah. But freedom breeder is also a very highly respected when it comes to there products and their reptiles. And I know price shouldn't be a factor when you talk about safety, but it is cheaper. But on that same point just because something is more expensive doesn't mean it's better. Thank you clearing some stuff up for me!!! I appreciate it!!! Looks like i still got reseach to do lol

No problem. I have heard of Freedom Breeder racks and have heard they are very good but i have never heard of their t-stats. The big names i've heard of in T-stats are Spyder Robotics, Vivarium Electronics, Ranco, Johnson Controls. Not to say FB doesnt make a good one but if you are interested, i would email FB and see if they have a tech sheet they could email you with the specs on their units as well as what passive and active safeties they offer.

Well the thing is Spyder Robotics, the makers of herpstat thermostats have years of epxerience fine tuning their devices and you have tons of users with little to no issues using them for years. The difference in price is less than $20 so ask yourself is it worth experimenting with an unknown to save $20? Just go with what people have used for years that works.
