    Baby Litter Update
1st and 2nd litters had 8 males 5 females. I notice after two weeks only females have nipples on the underside. Would two weeks be too soon to separate the males? 3rd litter of 10 now 8 are 5 days behind so I can't identify the gender as their fur is just starting to come in. Any suggestions how to determine gender on under 2 week old?

There is no need to separate until they are 3 weeks old at which time you will also be able to weaned them from their mom, separating now will mean separating the mothers that are lactating as well one will have 8 while the other will have 5, keeping everything communal while nursing makes it easier on the mothers as they take turns and the difference in age does not require to separate them from one another either.

Again you are trying to complicate things instead of keeping them simple.

    As for sexing http://www.afrma.org/sexing101.htm

I had people already asking for fuzzies for their reptiles that why I wanted to separate the male mice which there is a lot more than females.

You can still harvest what you need as feeders the day you need them and keep what you need sex wise without separating anyone now and until they are 3 weeks.

1 litters the two moms I fed mostly lard and combined had mostly male. Last mom didn't have as much lard so far her litter is mostly female I can't really tell until the fur covers the babies' underside.
