Just Monkeying Around...
We've been in the process of establishing a nice group of prehensile-tailed (AKA monkey-tailed) skinks since the start of the year. So far they've been a blast to work with. The first neonate born to our collection arrived just a few weeks ago and is growing like a weed. These live-bearing, quirky skinks are utterly fascinating.

Meet Squishy - our firstborn, now 7 weeks old.

Thank you! These live-bearing lizards definitely take some getting used to. 6 months gestation - eeesh!

Well, I think we need to have a reunion (hear that, Emily?) so you can come play with them in person. They are quirky and feisty...you'd get along with them famously!

Best suggestion I've heard in a long time :D

I've always thought these looked so cool, but I only ever saw WC ones for sale and buying WC scars the heck out of me.
What size cage / cage type do you use for them? Also, is their diet similar to a regular BTS (dogfood, veggies, fruits, bugs)?
I know my BTS is tons of fun and more like a small dog than a reptile, so I can only imagine if these are like that, but arboreal.
Very cool animals and nice photos too! Thanks for sharing!

Our initial enclosures were 4' tall x 4' wide by 2' deep. We are in the process of having new enclosures made that are 6' tall x 4' wide x 2' deep. I'll post pics once we get them set up.
They are completely herbivorous, and we feed a ratio of 70% mixed greens (kale, collards, red & green dandelion, mustard, turnip, various lettuces, chard, bok choy, beet greens, spinach, watercress), 20% vegetables (beets, tomatoes, broccoli, various squashes, carrots, occasional corn, asparagus, cucumber, sweet pepper, peas, beans, sweet potatoes are a favorite), and 10% fruit (apple, pear, berries, banana, dragonfruit, kiwi, mango). We also add in golden pothos leaves, which while toxic to other species, are part of the native habitat and diet for Corucia.
Corucia are actually quite dissimilar to BTS, especially in terms of personality. While the skinks in our primary circulus are (relatively) tame, we have others that range from flighty to outright aggressive (will charge you when you open the enclosure). They tend to stress more easily than BTS do, and can be rather unpredictable from time to time. The will keep you on your toes and demand that you learn to read their behavior. :) And their bites HURT. One of our girls is affectionately nicknamed "Fang" if that tells you anything.

All of my current chickens are friendly. They get a one-way ticket to freezer camp otherwise, and I have a whole pile of chicken recipes. ;) Y'all come on out.
