Getting ready to complete ms 24" X 24" X 96" enclosure I am building for my Boa Constrictor. I would like to mix my own soil for bioactive. What are you guys using for a mixture for a humid enclosure for a Boa cinstrictor Imperator? I plan on some live plants, isopods, and about a 4" layer of soil than some leaf litter. Depending on advice here I may add a layer of clayballs for drainage/moisture retension and cover that with landscape mesh.

I prefer easy to obtain materials if I can. Home depot, lowes, local greenhouse/lanscape shops?

    Thanks
    Mark

Glass came in today I will post pictures soon.

Research ABG soil recipes. You may have to go online for a few ingredients. Tree fern bark is the most critical. It holds the soil together and provides drainage. It’s also the most difficult to find. I used to know a website that did custom soils for orchids and stuff like that. You could order whatever you wanted and they would mix it for you. It was a lot cheaper than some of the stores selling ABG online. Be careful, ABG without tree fern is not ABG.

repotme.com and og.repotme.com will have most of what you are looking for if you go the ABG route.
