I don't see why not, the only problem I see is that with the dimmers you have to frequently monitor temps and adjust the dimmer, whereas if you have a herpstat type thermostat with prob it will adjust itself accordingly.

Oh I will have a herpstat. But just in case I cant afford one when heat is needed.

I wouldn't break off the grounding plug. If that thing malfunctions or something gets in it, all of your snakes/animals will be toast.

Use two UTHs with a dimmer connected to each one. Set the cool side temp accordingly.

They actually make converters to turn three prongs into two. I picked some up at Walmart.
