let’s talk BP poop!

let’s talk BP poop for a minute! what’s considered normal? Are they “regular“ or kinda sporadic? What does a good poop look like? is it something that seems to require some effort or do you sometimes look down and realize you’ve been pooped on? is it true they only poop once per meal? Is that always the case? Do they sometimes have a few meals before they poop?

They poop when they poop. Sometimes monthly, sometimes every few weeks or few months. The age of the snake makes a difference as well as their feeding schedule.

Within about the first year you won’t see too much poo. Their bodies utilize as much nutrients as possible to grow and develop. Sometimes they poo along with shedding. if you handle your snake a lot eventually you or your furniture will get pooped on either, and or poo, pee, urates, and possibly musk.

Don’t be alarmed by the urates, bile and other wastes; this is when it gets gross and weird. The urates are the white stuff. It can be solid white turds, stones, or goo. Many times along with it will be a brownish goo along with yellow goo and sometimes a bit of green goo.

‘Keep in mind that most snakes don’t drink water every day like mammals. Urates need to be eliminated constantly, so they build up as turds. Humans/mammals release them daily in our urine microscopically as uric acid and other wastes. The same bodily functions must happen in all creatures, the process is just a bit different in snakes.
